Be part of our story

Over the years, volunteers have been a cornerstone for Sumba Hospitality Foundation.

Their enthusiasm is contagious for students and staff and often they make a lasting impression and even leave their mark on the foundation and its social projects. You can volunteer full time, part-time, or project-based.

Volunteer on Sumba

Volunteering on Sumba is a life-altering experience. If you have the opportunity to join us, you will never regret it.

We’ll welcome you with open arms and provide housing here on the premises to complete our exciting mix of students, volunteers, international and local staff, and hotel guests. Just feel the vibe and go with the flow.

Volunteers generally stay for a minimum of 3 to 6 months. Experts are welcome to provide workshops for a few days up to 2 weeks.

Below are some common positions that have been filled by volunteers in the past:

  • Yoga Instructor
  • Restaurant and Bar
  • Front Office
  • Kitchen
  • Administration
  • HR
  • Marketing
  • Sustainability Management
  • English Teacher

Volunteer remote

We understand that not everyone has the opportunity to stay with us in Sumba. Don’t let this discourage you. In this digital world, there are many opportunities to help out from your place of residence. Think fundraising, graphic design, social media management, copywriting, and so much more.

We’ve already had the honor of collaborating with several volunteers, of all ages, based in countries like Belgium, the Netherlands, Singapore, the US, China, and the Indonesian Islands Java, and Bali. We’re sure your motivation makes up for the time difference. Why don’t you give it a try?

What’s your skill?

If you think you can offer something interesting or beneficial to the foundation, we’re happy to consider your application. Don’t hold back, share your skills with us and our students!
